Stories from Summer (part 11)

It was truly exciting to get to be at camp once again this past summer! One reason I love going back to camp each year is because I learn so much myself, and of course it’s awesome to get to see and interact with the campers and other staff. Something I’ve realized is, for me, camp is a place where i can get away from the grind of regular life and refocus on Jesus.

It’s wonderful when campers ask you questions that maybe you haven’t thought of or had to answer before. It puts you on the spot, but also you forces you to think about why you believe in Jesus. It’s the tough questions that often make you grow deeper in your walk with God. It reminds me of 1 Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;”

A highlight for me this year was getting to see how God works by bringing people together to serve His purpose. There was a camper in our cabin who had some questions about the Bible and how it was different from religions like Islam. One of my co-cabin leaders was a Christian who grew up in Iraq, so he was very familiar with Islam, and was able to answer the questions better than I could have! I was so thrilled to see how God worked to bring 2 people from completely different countries and backgrounds, to a little cabin at PRBC knowing that these questions would be discussed!
